Wildwood melodies

The relief depicts two Confuciusornis birds at play among tropical vegetation of the Cretaceous period. Confuciusornis were fossil birds discovered in China and named after the Chinese philosopher Confucius. These early birds are believed to have lived approximately 120 million years ago.
The circular format is intended to emphasize the dynamism of the composition and the grace of the birds’ movement. The relief is painted in accordance with the artist’s vision, as Confuciusornis' are visually compared to modern tropical birds with bright plumage.
